This is so great! I want to buy everything!!!
I know I love slumber parties! glad there is a reader on here that can tell us more about certain products!
Someone in my stake was doing this about a year ago, until the stake president cracked down on it. I don't know what they were selling at the parties, but apparently the SP said they encouraged masturbation, which leads me to think they were selling sex toys. I'm pretty sure the church doesn't have an official stance on the use of marital aides among married couples, and I thought the SP was way out of line for this approach, but his rant did shut it down. Beware...
He didn't shut it down, this is a huge national company. He made of made the one distributor feel dumb enough not to do it in the stake anymore, but the church has always stayed out of the bedroom as long as both parties are comfortable ( aside from obvious things, porn, threesomes etc). I don't know why people on this site always try and teach us "doctrine" that is in fact NOT doctrine.
Puhleeze. "shut it down" was in reference to the parties not going on in the Stake.
Hmmm, I sure don't see how anyone is trying to teach false 'doctrine' here. Don't be so sensitive anon 3:33.
I think sex toy parties are great and all but I would never attend one because I don't want the women at church, OR my friends OR family members knowing what sex toys I buy! But I don't think they have a place at church. Relief Society is NO place to be advertising your business if you are in the sex toy industry. So it makes me wonder if the sister that Steve is mentioning was advertising at Church? Because how else would the stake pres know about it?? That's just odd. And I agree that the SP has no place to tell them that they shouldn't sell such products.
I believe that the church handbook specifically says that church meetings (RS) are not the place to promote ANY business.
haha I would die if someone advertised it in relief society! I think they are fine but agree church is not an appropriate place to advertise.
I've been to one of these parties anon 3:01 and the ordering is done discretely in a private room and products are given to you in a black bag no one can see what you've purchased, they're actually a lot of fun. I lost the name of the distributor I used so I'm glad I can go to this site to purchase more things, thanks Vixen!
Sad that this blog has now gone to pot :(
Just curious where has everyone gone to?
Just when I had found this blog and started to read and enjoy it, it goes away. I thought people would keep commenting at least on some of the older topics.
I think that most everyone has gone over to the Men's site, because they are still posting new topics. But, it has been much quieter over there lately.
I think that we need to get a lot of new people to find the sites, and we will get some new blood. Most everyone has already commented on what they want to comment on.
How do we spread the word?
Even the men's site appears slow like anon 9:33 mentioned with very little posting going on. I do agree that there needs to be some new people added or at least more comments going on. Maybe it has been the topics of late on the men's site that just hasn't drawn many comments.
Ashley is kind of hot! lol.
This is awesome! I just ordered a ton of stuff, can't wait for it to get here! Thanks Vixen
Another good web site for products and non offensive, is
simplysweetmarriage.com/
Yeah, what WantsMore said is correct. I highly doubt anyone was advertising it in Relief Society specifically, but my stake skews fairly young demographically and many sisters are not shy about discussing bedroom topics amongst themselves (don't worry, none of them ever talk to me about anything like that). I suspect word got around until the SP heard about it. Needless to say, my SP does not skew young and he tends to be outspoken about a lot of things in his official capacity in areas where I think it'd be best if he kept it to his friends and family. Such is life in the Morridor. *sigh*
I find any marketing done with the Ward Directory to be wrong. A realtor in a ward I was once in sent out a mailing to everyone in the ward--I thought it was in incredibly poor taste. I don't care if it is tupperware, sex toys, kitchen goods, amway. Trying to sell stuff to your friends is tacky, trying to sell it to your fellow ward members with whom you don't have a real close relationship is worse.
